One Day at a Time

Matthew 6:11
When the children of Israel journeyed in the wilderness, they awoke every morning to find that manna, bread from heaven, have been provided for them to eat. God gave the Israelites specific instructions never to hoard more than a single day’s ration, except on the day before the Sabbath, when they gathered twice as much. By His grace, God provided for the Israelites’ physical needs, but the spiritual lesson they learned was an even greater gift. God was intent on teaching His people to trust Him through their reliance on Him for daily needs. As it was in the Old Testament, God‘s physical provision for His people is still a tangible reminder of His spiritual provision. When we pray, for tangible as well as intangible provision, we are choosing to eliminate pride, materialism, and worry. We are making a conscious effort to acknowledge that God has not promised us anything but to meet our needs.
