Matthew 3:11
John the Baptist told how Jesus would baptize believers with the Holy Spirit. After Jesus’ ascension, the Holy Spirit would be God’s presence on earth. The work of the Spirit begins long before the moment of our conversion. Certainly, the Holy Spirit must convict our hearts of sin and our need for a Savior, but this is only the beginning. The Spirit comes to reside within each believer. We do not receive a fraction of the Spirit but all of Him. He takes up permanent residence in the heart of a Christ follower at the moment he or she expresses repentance and faith toward God. Now, in the person of the Holy Spirit, God Himself becomes an onboard Guide for every believer! Go here. Do this. Avoid that. Pray for him. Say these words to her. The Spirit filled life is one of total submission to God. If you are a Christ follower, the Holy Spirit presently resides and works within you to empower you.
