The Gateway of Grace – Matthew 7:13-14

Grace seems to be a doctrine that many people misunderstand. Some view grace as the ability to make our own choices or a freedom for us to be in control of our daily lives. But grace, by definition, is the favor of God bestowed on believers. As a result of God’s grace, I want to live a life for Him. Jesus said wide is the gate that leads to destruction and narrow is the gate that leads to life! The gateway to grace has two hinges, just like any door has several hinges. The first hinge is our surrendering to Jesus Christ. We surrender to Christ, we recognize we have no rights, and Jesus Christ becomes our life. The other hinge to grace is repentance. Repentance is agreeing with God about the truth and being willing to change our actions. When Jesus said it was a narrow gate and difficult, He meant that only a few people would be willing to walk through it to everlasting life!
