Psalm 119:105
Life is busy, isn’t it? We spend 8+ hours a day, 5+ days a week working, and then we have to make time for family, for friends, and for church and church-related activities. Sometimes we’re squeezed for time, and one of the first casualties is time along with God in prayer and Bible reading. The psalmist who wrote today’s scripture verse understands that the Word of God gives believers direction and lights the way as we follow its leading. But the apostle Paul had much more to say about what the Bible does for us: “All scripture is God breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting, and training in righteousness, so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work“ (2 Timothy 3:16-17). So the words recorded in scripture lead and guide us, teach us, rebuke and correct us, and teach us what it means to be righteous. Can there be any question as to how important it is that we spend time reading God’s Word?
