Many of us know what it is like to wander away from God and get caught up in a lifestyle that is displeasing to the Lord. One spiritual phenomenon during our hiatus from God is when the devil whispers, “Look what you have done! God will not forgive you now!“ or other accusations and innuendos to keep you a guilty distance from God. That sinister devourer convinces many people that they have been too bad ever to be reconciled to God. But just look at the amazing parable in Luke 15 to see what really happens when one acknowledges sin and returns to God. The father throws a huge party on behalf of his returning son. During the celebration, notice the testimony of the son’s complete restoration did not come from the son but from the father: “My son was dead and is alive again; he was lost and is found.”
