Grateful Rest – Hebrews 4:9-10

One of the most quoted passages of the Bible is Galatians 6-9: “Let us not grow weary in well doing good.“ I have some news. Doing good can make you very weary! Oh yes indeed! As you meditate on this passage, think about this. And when you do, you may feel the warm embrace of your heavenly Father. Genesis tells us about the incredible work of God when He made the heavens and the earth. And on the seventh day He rested. There’s something very beautiful about this. While Christians may never grasp fully the meaning of God’s ability to rest, given that He could never possibly have gotten tired, the fact remains He wanted us to know He rested. All believers can certainly look forward to that time when we will all be with the Lord Jesus in heaven forever. Yes we will surround His throne and worship Him. And we will receive the rewards do those who have served Him faithfully. And for the rest of our eternal lives, we will rest in Him.
