God is Trustworthy – 2 Corinthians 1:20-22

The church at Corinth had begun to doubt Paul and question his integrity. He had changed his plans on his missionary journeys, and the Corinthians felt he had broken promises. Pastors have similar experiences. Sometimes when change occurs in church, members begin to doubt their leaders. We often doubt God in the same way. Paul recognized that when some thing occurs that we do not understand or agree with, we often cast doubt on God‘s character and promises. Paul then reminded us of what God has done by looking at four verbs that describe salvation: establishes, anointed, sealed, and given. Establishes refers to the grace of God that places is the Holy Spirit within us. Anointed is the work of the Spirit as He empowers us for service. Sealed is the idea that our salvation is secure. Given refers to the gift of the Holy Spirit in our lives. We can trust God with our future as we remind ourselves of what He has done in our past.
